About Leslie Curchack
Nature’s amazing grace was the call that led me to photography. Looking deeper into the natural world to capture its beauty led to an understanding of ecology, and a wish for my images to awaken a felt sense of our profound connections to Earth. Since 2011, I’ve produced the annual eco calendar In Love With Earth, featuring my nature photography, as well as quotes and content inspiring us to love the Earth each day of the year. This project has been a benefit for Daily Acts, an outstanding nonprofit sustainability organization. I consider In Love With Earth, with over 1000 subscribers, my most important platform for promoting ecological awareness.
My work has been shown in Bay Area galleries and venues, including the David Brower Center, the Sacramento Fine Arts Center and the Paul Mahder Gallery. Magazine credits include Orion, Wild Hope: Field notes and Images from Nature’s Front Lines and Works and Conversations.
I am self taught, but have been helped by many inspired people these past fifteen years, including Angar Mora, Joanna Macy and photographers Stanford Rose and George Ward. It is my great pleasure to have come to this work after careers in literature, music, and psychology. Those studies have all enriched the seeing and sharing that is my purpose now.
